Australian Copyright Council

The Australian Copyright Council (ACC) provides expert advice, training, and free information on Australian copyright law. Representing over a million creators, the ACC fosters collaboration between artists of all art forms and consumers, offering resources to help navigate copyright issues.

Australian Library and Information Association

Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) provides a range of resources, workshops, events and training in the information services sector. They operate on a paid membership basis, open to everyone Australia wide.

Australian Literary Agent’s Association

The Australian Literary Agents’ Association (ALAA) provide a public presence and a point of contact for Australian literary agencies and their staff. In keeping with their Code of Practice, ALAA members are committed to providing the best and fairest representation for Australian authors.

Australian Publishers Association

The Australian Publishers Association (APA) is the national representative body for the Australian publishing industry. They are a paid membership based organisation that work to make the business of publishing easier  through delivering key programs, initiatives, advocacy work and research.

Australian Society of Authors

The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) is the peak national body for writers and illustrators in Australia. They offer services including a free advice service for members, contract reviews and legal advice, recommended minimum rates of pay, resources and contract templates, professional development, publishing consultancies, mentorships, and manuscript assessments. They advocate for fair remuneration for creators, fair contracts, and robust copyright protections.

Australian Writers Guild

The Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) represents Australian performance writers principally in film, television, theatre, audio and interactive media. AWG offers services for paid members including script assessments, industrial resources, rate guides, a contract review and advice service, plus workshops and events.

The Book People

The Book People represent Australian bookshops within the industry to consumers and to governments. They provide services that include a master account with Australia Post, a national gift card scheme, reading guides, consumables and improved terms for their members. The Book People promote the cultural and economic benefits of bookshops, books and reading.

Copyright Agency

Copyright Agency collects licence fees for the reuse of text and images and distributes these as copyright royalty payments to their creator members. They are appointed by the Australian Government to manage statutory copyright licences for education and government, and the visual artists' resale royalty scheme. Membership is free, open to all nationally.

Institute of Professional Editors

The Institute of Professional Editors Limited (IPEd) is the professional association for Australian and New Zealand editors. It exists to advance the profession of editing and to support and promote Australian and New Zealand editors. IPEd offers initiatives for editors through sponsorship, professional development programs, managing an accreditation scheme and the standards for editing practice.

Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance

Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) is Australia's largest union for creative professionals. MEAA primarily serves the TV, theatre, film, journalism and entertainment industries. They offer free resources on workplace rights and contracts, and publish industry rate trackers on their website. MEAA mostly works on a paid membership basis offering various benefits and services to members.
