Take the journey
Making your workplace fair, safe and respectful doesn’t happen in one go — it’s a journey.
Do I have to do this? It depends. Some independent contractors are entitled to super. If they are, you need to collect their super details so you can make contributions. You need to get these details before their first invoice so you can pay super at the same time as you pay their invoice.
Learn more about:
- who gets super
- getting the super details you need for making super payments
Do I have to do this? This depends on whether you want the independent contractor to follow them. It’s unreasonable to expect an independent contractor to follow your policies if they don’t know about them.
You should tell independent contractors which workplace policies affect them, make sure they can access them, and make sure they know who to ask if they have questions.
But remember: Independent contractors are not employees, so your policies may apply to them in a different way.
